Frugel-Horn Lite for 3" drivers

Chris & i just spent the afternoon playing with REW and the miniDSP.

If you are lucky Chrios will post some graphs.

Basically the FF85wKeN in FH-Lite was close to ruler flat from 500-9Khz, with some room humps and dips below that. Top rolled gently down some dB by 20KHz.

woofer is the brown Trianguaklr columns/wedges in the back.

Bass in room at teh listening position, produced bass down quite low, into the 40s. Adding the woofer did not ad dmuch extention but boy did it bring authority.

Trianguaklr columns/wedges -? Dipole wedges?

Also, it’s interesting that people complain about their cables and cable noise and you have crap everywhere. So do I. I clean it all up for serious listening though.

I have some mellow sounding 3” TB’s that I need to put into an FH.

Hi
which driver should be used for a Frugel-Horn MK3 and Frugel-Horn Lite for a low power single ended amp like the JLH 1969 (10 Watts) and a 2A3 Triode amp. Would the MOAP be a good joice. I am not a big fan of Fostex
FH3 - MA A7.3
Lite - MA 5.2

Thank you
Christian

What Scott says. In my big room, i have had some enjoyable afternoons with a 2A3 SE driving less efficient MAs.

My main amp now is 18 w and i rarely run out.

Remeber that how well the amplifier recovers from clipping is probably moreimportant than how much power it is rated at. I have heard a 20w amp play louder than a 200w amp before you can hear the amp misbehaving.

I am thinking to give the Alpair 5.2 in frugel horn lite a try. I found out, that I dont like too much top end energy. I had Pluvia 7.2 in a Pensil before and I found these fatiguing over longer periods with too much information.
How does Alpair 5.2 compare to this? The Fr graph shows much less peak in the top end.
Iam fan of CHN50 in baby labs and like them a lot. But some more quality would be ok.

FH Lite CHN50.

I have committed to building a pair of these to try and replace some small bookshelf speakers. They will be used, more or less on a book shelf... (Only have 4.5" on either side of the TV)

I realize ill loose a bit of bass from being 3' above the floor... But its a small room.

Being up higher, i would also like to remove the 5° slant.
Is there anything special i should consider other than cut at 0°?

Thanks!
