Okay, I decided to try out this avatar business. My theory is that, once you go to the trouble of finding a suitable avatar, it is a clear indication that you're spending too much time on the forum.
Still, I have to admit it is pretty cool.

tell me about it...
I've been on here since January and I hadn't drawn up an avatar until yesterday! 🙂

Interesting... I never knew the actual definition of the word; just the "virtual reality" context.
"Avatar" means, literally, "the incarnation of a Hindu deity (as Vishnu)".
You learn something new every day. 🙂

Keep your avatar fresh and current.....
I know my avatar is old, but that pix will never go out of style.
I have a copy hanging abvove my bench, and yesterday I had a customer remark that she has the same picture and has been dragging it around for 20 years, and will never part with it.
Eric.

My avatar was chosen to illustrate the openness of my mind...
Also, I heard that trepanation is the best tweek you can do for your stereo's performance. Basically the equipment is as good as it can get, so the human body needs to be modified to gain further improvement. I haven't the cajones to try it myself... yet... but I'm hoping one of the "try anything" types (you know who you are) here will and let us all know if it really works.

Eric,
I have seen your avatar more than 10 years ago. I've always wondered if there is a little story behind that avatar other than it is just an ad for Memorex (is it?).

"Blown Away" Steve Steigman Concept Lars Anderson Weaver Gallery 1979 90cm * 60cm.
I have a copy hanging above my bench - $4 at a garage sale - I've had to have it since I first saw one years ago and now I do. 🙂
Pretty descriptive of my workshop sound system too. 😀

MRehorst said:I have another avatar which I considered- it is the business end of a skull drill- it looks remarkably like an RCA plug!
Keep an open mind!!!

Scary looking thing, that.

But wouldn't that be the ultimate in high fidelity? An RCA jack in the skull, feeding a signal directly to the brain? Forget the ears... Mine are less than perfect, and I would love to bypass them.

Shame about the tax on those "music" CD-R discs. You should hack your recorder to use regular blanks.
