ALIENS!

The ones who ate my Buick.

Bummer. Maybe I'll buy a Ford next time. They couldn't possibly want one of those.

That's the kind of thing that chaps my butt: it is NOT a measure of CO2 concentration over time, despite how it's labeled and presented. It's a compilation of untested (and at the moment untestable) models and some very indirect evidence of what CO2 concentration MIGHT have been, maybe, with the corresponding enormous error bars, and making a pile of assumptions.

This is my major problem with interpreting anthropogenic global warming arguments- the evidence either way is so very flimsy and indirect.

Like any great lie, conspiracy theory, or "spin", or "cons", or flaky wacky belief systems (Wacky BS); most of the "facts" used in the rationale are true and indisputable. What happens to make these so dangerous is that most untrained or inexperienced are incapable of recognizing the untruths, the twisting of the truth, or the distortions of the facts, or the selective omissions of necessary facts (half-truths), that the LIAR employs to make his case - heck every defense attorney uses these manipulation tactics for a living. And I am sure that most of these lawyers believe that they are good people doing good work. The ones that promote the Wacky BS are not motivated by altruism – there is always self interest at work (or the self interest of the voices in their head.)
It is human nature to want to believe something that is wonderful – like free lunch forever, or a fat man rewarding your goodness every Christmas. Many of course will become evangelical in the advocacy of their flawed belief system; because they need other converts to confirm that they have not lost their minds. It is understandable that this becomes emotionally heated. Unfortunately these Wacky BS become a very meaningful part of the believers psyche and may come to dominate the lives of some of them. It is rarely possible to correct them by pointing out flaws in their argument, because it usually means much more to them than it does to you.

SY, I agree regarding how close Newtonian gravity matches what we perceive in our day to day lives, but my point about General Relativity is germane. The Wacky BS depends on being mostly right with that small amount of completely wrong to make the whole Wacky BS become self consistent. The believers of Wacky BS can appear normal in their daily lives until they bring up their pet subject.

The problem is that governments and companies use exactly the same tactics. It becomes very difficult to take most of the information we receive impartially. Take for example Tony Blairs justification for going to war against Iraq. He used the threat of WMD been launched against Britian within 40mins. This was a blatant lie fabricated at his instruction, and only one of the ones he was caught out on.

Living in a state of constant disinformation makes crazies of us all.

Let this be a lesson for us....Information should be shared for the good of
mankind....not for profit.  Que viva the yahoo group.

This week I stumbled across a 10 year old story of how Chevron stepped in to
buy the patent rights for the large metal hydroxide batteries after Toyota
produced a full size SUV that could go 150 miles between charges in the 90's
using this then fairly new technology.

Panasonic, who was under contract to Toyota to build these large batteries,
lost a 30 million dollar law patent suit from Chevron, and was forced to
stop making the batteries for Toyota.  Then for 10 years, there were no
large size batteries made of this type.  I wonder if other countries are
getting the courage to build the batteries inspite of patent infringement,
as I think the metal hydroxide process was invented in Europe???  Maybe it
is the battery type on the windfarm application??

Seems like petro chem companies, who go into electric storage devices,
should be suited for monopoly and racketeering....I don't think our present
president is inclined in that direction, but I might be wrong.

I found that PBS had a documentary on this issue which was released this
year....10 years after....It took 3 dollar a gallon gasoline to get the
facts out in the open.....

A nice ideal, but modern life/science is so far beyond the ability of all but a tiny minority to understand - that it soon becomes impossible.
Skeptism is a double edged sword which can cut you off from information as well as protect you from BS. As I said before a scientific skeptic can be unwilling to look into and consider certain areas of knowledge.

That was the very same vehicle that originally contained the (finished and commercialized) working near equivalent of the Minato motor (I said similar), which required no gasoline or charging whatsoever..and resulted in the direct and immediate threat from Bush Senior to shut down proposed Toyota plants in the US, and shut down existing Toyota plants in the US, and a general full bore slam of Japanese car imports by the US government ensued, in the form of a substantial taxation (import duty). This, under the guise of protecting domestic car production and the US economy in general. Look at the story in all it's facets and connections..people and corporate/government. Very serious stuff.

It comes back in various versions, and assets on the ground and around that could be used to slam this one into the ground, have not existed (long story), so this one is getting a bit further down the road. We shall see how far it goes, before it explodes. Exhibit ~#435, out of thousands.

Ignorance kills, yes. The anomalous instances far outweigh the 'science' (and other situations) against them. They (the instances of 'claim') should be fully absorbed, left in the pile, and then added to-with the mass of other claims.. Not looked at and then dismissed and each looked at in singularity, but as a mass, a large group. Then they begin to make sense. It takes quite some time to gather the entire group or enough of them together to being making headway in logical deduction, but it IS worth the effort, oh yes. Very much so.

As you may see reading on the bits about the Steorn site and the owners of such, it is not a ****-and-bull 'midnight runner' company and/or people. Just like it almost always is. These are serious people, with a serious background. Note the temporal considerations of magnetics as I have proposed in the other thread. The best systems always seem to employ magnetics. And the temporal gradients seem to be the key considerations as the point of egress.

Note the extreme reluctance to let such a thing out in the public, as it contains the very idea, and thus, 100's of unclaimed patentable ideas. Such is life. They should simply let it go and let the chips fall where they may. But the weight of such things always preys on one's mind. What to do? It's a horrifically powerful moment to live through. I seem to be getting from their stance that they are in a quandary of being comercially oriented but at the same time humanitarian.

You can't even walk down the street without tripping over an anomalous point in physics, that just begs for some decent explaination. Something beyond what is accepted now.

And if you follow the story of Steorn in it's full complexity of timeline and detail, you will fnd they have been under constant and heavy clandestine and open attack since their public mention of this phenomenon and patent claim.

And that is the quandary that is Pandora's Box. Once the thing is busted open, there is NO putting a lid back on it.

Approximately 10 years ago now, I created a clocking system that has zero jitter. I truly do mean exactly that. Literally Zero Jitter, and all that such a claim implies. The physicists among you may ponder such. Good luck. I will say no more of it, with my mouth as zipped on that one as is usual. One can imagine the uses of such a toy. Like all such cool thingies, I did it sheerly by accident and afterward - sat there, for years, pondering the implications.

Crikey! You lads have been having too much fun while I was away.

So let me see if I undestand.

Global warming is cause by the absorption of cosmic rays in monatomic insulin formed in a conspiracy of ancient Egyptian oil barons hiding the existence of low jitter alien greenhouses powered by orgone.

Did I get it right?

Or is it all the free engergy that's causing global warming? 😕

You've disproved the Uncertainty Principle. Please go directly to Stockholm for your Nobel.

Okee dokee. Do they provide beer?

I love Feynman's story on that one.

It was one of those "I'll just split this here beer atom" moments. (mine, that is, not Richard's)

You also won a Slim Whitman album. Which one would you like?
