Free bass, part II

Worth fixing sure! Especially if it's cheap! 6 woofers will give good bass. I would use a big vented enclosure, you could even make 3 isobaric pairs... You would need to measure T/S parameters... By the way, if you can measure them for the Klipsch too, would be great.

I know 6x15" would have potential to move a lot of air. Even at a modest 2mm Xmax each (who knows? ) that's 12mm x15"dia... But the box size...gosh. :xeye: Holes cut in the ceiling or walls come to mind, or perhaps a false wall...

These were in really big boxes in the church. If I were going to repair them, I'd want to go with treated cloth so I wouldn't be stuck doing it again in another 15 years or so. I may make my own surrounds, but that will definately be a long ways down the road, if ever. Make a nice mold, pour the rubber over it... eh? Maybe lay up some heavy fabric (or light fabric? ) and put some silicone sealant on it... I did that when I was a kid, turned a 15" into an 8" with an ugly surround. Used bedsheets and blue silicone!

15" surround re-foam kits run about $40+ each and I don't know what the OEM replacement is but it's likely to be at least that much. That would be at least $240 for maybe-good. Making my own sounds better ( ! ).

I wonder if the spider is strong enough to prevent mechanical damage without the surround? If so, it might be interesting to group them in a triangle of 3 and try them as a stereo pair of nearfield dipole subs...

No repair costs at all.
