I am about to build a pretty sizeable workbench for my shop. I have the bass module from an old Klipsch Rebel system gathering dust. Could I expect anything like 1/2 decent (if quiet) bass if I put this 5.25 in a hole on the back/bottom of the bench? Shortest pathlength front-back would be about 8 feet or longer.
Specs on the woofer:
5.25" diameter
weight: moderate
surround: foam
that's about all I know
Am I crazy or is there anyone else out there who would go to the trouble of cutting this hole?

Why mess with a teeny woofer? Install some 12s. And bi-amp to some satellites. That what I'm doing. Gotta have good sound in the shop too.
😀 you, funnyman!
Previous shop-sound is courtesy of an aiwa boombox. Looking to upgrade to old compaq computer speakers maybe in back of bench, perhaps with Klipsh bass!
Total cost of the bench is still about $2 for screws. Amplification for these speakers is probably going to be TDA chipamps of the 2x6W variety or else some simple opamp-with-follower stuff.
The budget just don't have any new gear in it. If you care to donate to the cause however....

The woofer will be boxed in the bench? If yes, you could port it with a ABS pipe, decent sound for sure, better than AIWA...
