Happy holidays everyone @ DIY Audio. As my gift to music lovers am giving away the 'master tape' of one of my tracks. The dynamics are huge! This is the never-before-released raw recording/file so the first 25 seconds is 'dead air' as I had to press record button on the Tascam and then get behind the drum/percussion setup. The music begins with quietly played tuned percussion, which eventually builds as more percussion instruments join in. Finally, the drums enter slowly as to 'warn' you of the impending loud finale section. Please be very careful with the volume of your audio system as the dynamic range is uncompressed and we are recording a very large set of drums/percussion. Yes the track is recorded a bit low in volume level as compared to commercial releases as was afraid of digital clipping during SPL peak. Your system should have plenty of gain to compensate, yet remember the finale is quite loud so be careful when setting your listening level.
You can download the track, cover art and more detailed info on the track at http://1drv.ms/1vrktuR

As I said before this recording has clipping in the left channel. Its audible especially if you only play the left channel.
The clipping didn't occur in the ad stage, but somewhere before.

Picture added.

Tattoo- You get a gold star for discovering the clipping but why are you so determined to criticize the effort. Post your recordings my friend. I'll gladly listen to them and enjoy them for what they are without the feeling the need to critique your errors.

But perhaps I misunderstand your reasoning for pointing out the clipping in two different posts....

The point is that there is literally no point in having a super hi rez file at a sort of master tape recording level if clipping is occurring, it makes the whole effort redundant.

Now if the clipping only occurs for 10 seconds out of a 5 minute recording or something then that is a different matter, I'll have to download it to find out.

Indeed.
And I suspect that this clipping went unnoticed. The converter itself isn't clipped.

There's clipping everywhere in the louder parts of the recording.

One other interesting thing to do is, if you can, look at how many bit are actually used in the recording. It would surprise you.

I am in temporary housing for the moment and didn't have any decent playback system until I rigged up something last night. Did anyone actually LISTEN to this file? Despite the technical flaws this file reminds me of why I chose the Yamaha NS-10M Studio Monitors over all the other speakers that I auditioned back in the early 90's.....they get percussion right!
