oops

sorry for the double post, i hit the back arrow by mistake, one can be deleted.

There are also first surface mirrors from sciplus that are a very good price ($3.50usd; 160mm X 183mm and $2.00usd 77mm X 194mm)

not sure the quality, however a fs mirror is in many designs and wouldn't add much to the total shipping.

Hello all .....

what Focal length Fresnel would be used with this lens? Could i use a fresnel with a 220 mm focal length for my field fresnel with this Projection lens?

i think it'll work cos 220mm fl of ur fresnel matches the 228 mm of this pj lens.

btw. in my psone setup i am using two 310mm fresnels(thin magnifier) in front of the display and a fujinon 240mm pj lens and it works well.

Hi,

#1 I'm just wondering wouldn't be possible to get some condenser lenses from this particular eshop as well?

Lenses, Lenses, Small and Large
Ideal for the home scientist interested in doing a science project on optics. As industrial surplus they may have edge chips or light surface scratches, but nothing to interfere with your experiment. Each assortment has ten lenses. Five will have positive focal lengths, and five negative. Thus five will enlarge, magnify, form images and condense light. The other five will diminish, reduce, disperse light and not form images. Each lens will be unlike the others. The difference in assortments? It's a matter of size! The tiny lens assortment will have lenses with diameters under 1/2".The small from 1/2" up to 1-1/4". The large lens assortment lenses will have diameters of 1-1/4" to 2-1/2". Which to get? You will find shorter focal lengths with the smaller lenses, but they are easier to lose. Get several and build your science project around a demonstration of the physics preventing very short focal lengths with larger lenses.
3711 KIT, LARGE LENSES $3.50/PKG(10)
3707 KIT, SMALL LENSES $2.00/PKG(10)
6901 KIT, TINY LENSES $1.75/PKG(10)

Did you check with them about the details of their copy lenses,
because on the 2nd page they provide more description
on the "Eye Checker copy lense" - they talk about metal housing etc. I'm just curious what will be the quality of our future 9" lenses.. it might be desirable to ask them for a picture
of this particular model..?

thanks

I actually went and got both that projection lens and the small lenses kit when I was building my first projector. The projection lens seems to work pretty well, though I can't tell whether it's a doublet or a triplet. The aperture on the inside is smaller than the actual diameter of the lens, so it lets less light through (unfortunately). That said, it did give me a nice sharp picture. The throw distance was long, which could be a plus for a lot of people. I had it about 10' from the wall and was getting a 60" diagonal picture out of a 5.6" screen. I'll post pictures later if you want. The small lenses kit that I ended up with was pretty useless for projection, there was one lens that might possibly have been used as a condenser but it's focal length was way too long. Mostly they were just fun to play with. Hope some of that helps you guys out, and good luck.

@vassarguy , thank you for the info. it helps. pics are appreciated. ;-)

yeah, the inside aperture points out on a doublet since the aperture avoids spheric and chromatic aberration. a triplet would would have inserted a dcv lens instead of an aperture. anyhow, if picture is crispy with that lens it'll do the job.

@mesuge,

thanks to the provided info on that lens kit i guessed right.....

i grabbed one of these. gonna give it a shot with my work-in-progress. the only thing i need now is a couple fresnels (somewhere around 7"x8"). searching around, but if anyone knows a good place for these, lemme know.

oh, and my bulb just burnt out, so its gonna take a bit longer than previously expected.

Lens

Another batch of superb copy lenses, made by Georz Optical Company for Xerox. Goerz Optical of Inwood, NY was known for superior optics. Coated multi-element lens assembly with iris in the center. Front lens diameter is 47mm, rear lens diameter of 40mm. Black-enameled aluminum barrel length of 80mm x 64mm diameter, 14-leaf adjustable iris from one notch above f/9 to one notch smaller than f/22, multi-element, with beautiful purpled coated optics. Focal length is 250mm, measured from the center of the assembly. This too will make a nice “Copy Scope” and the iris will allow you to cut down the light from the moon or other bright object. Unused stock. Supplies are limited.

Found this lens and thought it might work. What you guys think?
