Just been in my grandads loft and he handed me a pair of old speakers and an old amp. Quite a good find for freebies,

Speakers: Immaculate Wharfedale Linton 3XPs
Amp: Sansui A60

Can anyone tell me anything about them please? Sorry to be throwing out yet another request for information.

Greetings JonLawes. You mightg try Google. I got a few contacts an hour ago. If the mid unit has a series of holes drilled in the cone then that was an attempt to reduce colouration from that driver. I think it was also about the first use of 'bextrene' as a cone material. Is there a Wharfedale owners site in the UK? The other thing to do is get the date of manufacture and then find a library with back copies of "Hi-Fi News Record Review" from that period. I seem to recall that Wharfedale were doing some serious reseach around then and I vaguely recall one of their people publishing a paper on their work but I'm not sure about that. The other thing is that even if the magazines don't carry reviews or items about a specific product then the advertisements often carried a reasonable descrpition and technical info'. Also in the early '70s "Wireless World" still called a good audio content. They will be more accessible than HFNRR. It will take a bit of running around though. Good luck, Jonathan Australia (ex-Bristol)
