Fostex speakers in EU.

Where do you EU guys buy your fostex fullrange speakers?
I am considering the Fostex 166E or 206E.
Looking at the market I found that they cost nearly 100usd less for a pair from the states including the larger shippingcost! Thats not really fair, is it😀 If ordered from the states the package might be stopped by the customs, and the savings will be gone.
Any advice on a decent place to order from, will be appriciated.
I havent been able to find a dealer here in Denmark.

Steen🙂

Need more?
Thanks for the links. Only one more is needed, namely one that matches the US prices😉 A 166E cost appr. 45 Euro at Madisound and appr. 70Euro in the DE shops. I am puzzled why they cost that much more here in EU😕 Doesnt they get the units from the same place?

Steen🙂

Edit. The UK shop tops the list so far at 85Euro😱

You have to think about several points:
1. prices in USA are always without VAT
2. Tax and customs vary in each country
3. Madisound as "the distributor" gets the drivers from Fostex Japan but the German shops get the drivers from the German distributor

Try to import the drivers yourself from Madisound and after shipping, tax and customs you will get a price close to the European prices!

That's a very interesting question, Steenoe....

Madisound also sells Seas at appx 60% of the scandinavian retail price...
make's one wonder who's cheating who😡

Validator..
you are partly right, of course . European VAT range from 17-25%.. and US local taxes are not listed, albeit much lower.
OTOH- european drivers should be cheaper in EU than US.. don't you agree???

I have a price quote from Madisound, that would save me 67Euro over the EU prices (Including shipping) Thats why I raised the question. I can see that if the dealer link is removed and the units are bought directly from the distributor would ofcourse result in savings. So that might explain the price difference. So now we only have to figure out how to get the stuff from USA, avoiding the Custom's keen eyes😉
(Or mayby a parralel import from the East)
Thanks for all the input so far.

Steen🙂

Edit,
Validator, that is the cheapest I found here in EU, and the one I had in mind to order from. (If not from US)

Steen,

did you calculate VAT and customs to your Madisound quote?

Simple example:
90 Dollar drivers (2 FE166e), 60 Dollar shipment (?) = 150 Dollar = approx. 120 Euro + 4% customs (Germany) = 125 Euro + 16% VAT (Germany, 19% in 2007 :bawling: ) = 145 Euro

Boxen Baustelle 68+68+15 shipment = 151 Euro

Bottom line: you saved 6 Euro but do you get a full 2 year guarantee from Madisound? In case of a defect you have to send them back to USA? It's your choice 😀

Thorsten

Yeah, you are propably right Thorsten. Its safer to order from within the EU. Regarding the price, as I said in my first post, the saving would disappear if Custom's pick out the package 😉 Its all too risky. Thanks a lot for the input.

I bought a pair of modded FE126E's from planet10 in Canada.

Delivered to France they worked out a bit cheaper than for an unmodded version from an EU shop. Customs didn't ask for any tax.

They don't have any guarantee -- I assume Dave's mods void that...

and...

4. Turnover is probably lower in Europe (less purchase power for the seller).
5. Profit margins are also generally higher.

I bet they were on a coffee break, happens all the time😀 Many packages goes unnoticed, but its gambling counting on that, a few doesnt. I count on having every 4'th package held back by Customs. (By experience.) So now that we have a dealer after all here in DK, I just have to decide what to build. I could ofcourse play it safe and go: Bib and Bruce😉
