Fostex R82B Attenuator for Guitar amp

I use a Monacor AT-60, which is basically the same thing: an L-pad attenuator.

Be wary of the power rating: it's grossly over stated. To stay on the safe side, I use a simple 2 resistors divider between the amp out and the L-pad: 2,2 ohms in serie, and 22 ohms in parallel, both 20 watts or more.

I have this setup for a number of years without any problem. The tone is a bit different because the amp sees an almost purely resistive load instead of a speaker.

There are a number of "compensated" attenuators like the Hotplate that simulate a speaker load, but you'll have to pay $200 & up.
