Hello All, I have a Fostex PM2 monitor with a blown tweeter, I believe. The question is: Does the tweeter it self usually blow first or could it be the circuitry? I think it blew when I had a microphone hooked up to my recorder & got feedback or when I switched wires. Any advice for repairs in New Jersey/ New York area? Thanks.

Fostex PM-2 Near Field Tweeter Replacement

For what is is worth:

I had virtually the same problem. Tweeter in monitor goes out.

Problems in finding a replacement:
1) As good as no customer support from fostex (especially in the US).
2) The manual gives NO information as to speaker model number, speaker ohmage, sizes, or diaphragm replacement model.
3) Tweeter diaphragm shape completely different from common Fostex Tweeter models (after weeks of looking and dozens of speaker places contacted for parts with no luck.)

End result:
I replaced the whole tweeter with this for $75.00 USD

Morel CAT308 1" Textile Dome Tweeter: Madisound Speaker Store

(Beats $400+ for a new set because you can't find them seperate)

It sounds great, looks very similar, perfect fit, and is rated at 200w. Problem solved.!
As a note, to remove the tweeter/speaker, remove the flange around the tweeter located on the front of the monitor. There are 5 screw behind this.

question comment

you mention removing the flange on the front of the PM2's to expose the 5 screws on the tweeter... but the tweeter that i find on the Madisound site only has 3 screws. Maybe they changed the screw layout on this version of the tweeter?
