I had burned quite a few CD's to WAV , with iTunes, but have recently downloaded Foobar. Apparently, the metadata tag between the two are not compatible. When I open my library in Foobar I get "?" under the album title and I just get a giant list of tracks under a single folder.
I tried to use the "freedb" option in Foobar to update the data but it just brings up a bunch of junk that's not even close to the album.
I did rip a CD with Foobar and it shows properly but, it doesn't show up in my iTunes library that I need to sync with my phone.
Anybody have advice on how to make the 2 programs compatible?
Looks like I can change the metadata format in Foobar's preferences but I'm having trouble finding what format iTunes ripped them to. Any other ideas or input?

Changing the file format shouldn't have anything to do with the metadata tag. Both programs read and rip to WAV format that I'm using. You could use VLC and change the file type to MP4?
Hmm, Maybe I didn't explain the issue properly in the OP?
Look at the screen shot below of the file structure I get in Foobar. I ripped the Cake CD with Foobar and it shows the album/artist. The rest of the library was ripped with Itunes and looks like a mess.
The problem is similar with iTunes. The Cake CD I burned with Foobar will not show up in my library.
All files ripped to WAV format, just 2 different programs.
The window on the right in my screen shot is the metadata format for Foobar. This is the tag along info that ID's the folders and files in the programs.

I really don't know.
My guess is the "metadata" that you're seeing is being interpreted from the filename.
I'll watch and learn.

Looks like my Google skills failed me, a member from another forum pointed me to this article.

Looks like you were on the correct path suggesting the format I ripped to sofaspud.
Summary of the link: WAV format does not have a standard for how the metadata/"info chunk" is written and does not play well between different programs.
I'll covert what I have to another uncompressed format that's a bit more manageable between programs and just keep a small compressed library for my phone. I don't listen to a lot of copied music from my phone so it's not a huge loss.
