FonkenPrime or GR Fonken questions

I decided I'll try my hand at a set of Fonkens. I guess I want to know about that "sounds good, but it's not a Fonken" ya'll been talking about. 🙂

The GR looks like a simpler build, is there big difference in how they sound?

Anyways, here are the Fostex FE127e's breaking in..

Nice enclosure 🙂

The finese of the FonkenPrime comes from the big bevel, and the VERY high aspect ratio ports. The GR doesn't disappear quite as well, abd has a bit less control at the bottom (some find that a good thing). Build whichever suits,

Thought I'd bring this back to life....

decided several months back to build the primes but didn't get started to a couple of weeks ago.

I took my time on these with the fitting of brace to driver and was definitely apprehensive about cutting the baffle angle. I spent extra time on fit of panels before gluing and learned the value of a flush trim router bit. These are 1/2" BB, with 3/4" oak plywood for baffle and 3/4" polystuff batting on interior.

I still have to decide what finish and what I'll do for stands....too high sitting on Axioms. 😀

So far they sound good hooked up to an Onkyo and my Sony Cd player.

What screws do you guys like for attaching driver to baffle?

I use brass screws. Remember, just tight enuff to stop the imaginary washer from moving.
