Is there a practical limit to the length of this foil cable? I need 12-16 foot runs. Should I still use 14 gauge?
Thinking of the Jantzen cross foils, 99.99% Cu, 15mH, 14 gauge. Should give me two 17-foot runs, for about $20. That's a damn good deal!

No, that's only available in 16AWG. I believe I need 14 or bigger.
Even on their site, they don't mention the purity level of the copper!
Also, I don't need the tape, as I will loosely cover the runs with Saran Wrap.

Upupa, how about the coax cables made by Mogami. And if someone likes solid core, why not just use enamel wire in cotton sleeve, this way someone can make in Kimber like configuration to reduce impedance at high frequencies. I don't know that much about cables but there's also resonance and other parameters - Hi-Fi Choice tested cables in some interesting fashion.
Speaker wire does not resonate at, or anywhere near, audio frequencies unless it is so incompetently (or deliberately) designed by a gibbering imbecile to do so. See here for a decent factual discussion: Debunking the Myth of Speaker Cable Resonance | Audioholics
