Built a quick and dirty TL sub with one inch foam core wrapped it in some particle board I had. It's tuned to 40 and kicks like a mule! I love it.
I have another GRS 10 inch pro driver on the way so I can make a fresh and hopefully improved, sonically and ashentically, stereo pair.
I would like to use 3/8 material for the wrap but I could use 1/2 material. It's nice to have it lite and mobile. So it's probably a choice between plywood and chip board. Which one performs better?
Any other recommendations to sonically get the most quality bass out of it?

Offsetting the driver at ~L*0.349 and tuning it to Fs/Qts' is the optimal TL version of a T/S max flat BR alignment.
[Qts']: [Qts] + any added series resistance [Rs]: http://www.mh-audio.nl/Calculators/newqts.html
[Rs] = 0.5 ohm minimum for wiring, so may be higher if a super small gauge is used as a series resistor plus any added resistance from an XO/whatever.

I used MJK plans for taper and volume. I think I decided to offset .28. Going to .34 wouldn't hurt my cause it would raise it up a bit. I don't think it would matter as far as the integration with the tops as I'm crossing over at around 125. At the same time it sounds so nice.
In decades of on and off goofing around with speakers this has got to be the smartest thing I ever did, maybe the smartest thing I've done in my life, which is telling but I digress. I delved into the open baffle bass thing and eventually decided it just wasn't for me. It thundered but it never "punched" me.
If only those decades ago when I walked into a now defunct hi fi shop in Phx, "The Speaker Works," he had followed up his question of whether I could build a box with, "build a TL line with this pro driver" instead of, "build a sealed box for this 12" Peerless driver and throw this crossover in it for these bookshelf speakers." I responded that I only had a 100 watt receiver didn't I need a sub amp. He didn't think so.. Well, long story short, different strokes for different folks. Maybe in hindsight the Cruella De Vil car he drove was an indication he wasn't a bass head. Times have changed, but a 100 watts probably all these bad boys need!
The future of the classic 3 way should be in my opinion a subwoofer, a pro driver and a fullrange driver. At least thats my mission in life now! Maybe i could accommodate for a 4 way with a high crossover on the tweeter.
I do miss my old Pioneer 3 ways though that I got rid of back in the aforementioned day.
