I, new here and sorry for my poor english, I, was wondering if a High quality portable FM radio does exist! I'm actually using my HD Zune FM radio (with cMoy v2.03 & Atrio M5) at work, but must often listen to music unstead because of bad frequency & high distortion. I'm a cMoy v2.03 portable amp user and read a lot about portable amp, so wonder if FM portable exist?
Thanks,

Yes, search for a single chip TDA1083, it includes from FM if to audio output, only need two BJT´s for FM mixer. I did some of it 10+years ago, and great performance.

Can you explain more, I'm mostly using pre-built, as I've no electrical formation and tools.
Good sound quality FM receiver are not easy DIY items..
Best would be to use a cheap cell phone with integrated FM radio
as the NOKIA ExpressMusic models , get a used one, it s enough for
the purpose.

Have an LG GW300 Gossip cell, same frequency issue, where lots of electrical components, such as computers.

5V power, simple enough (datsheet schematics), sounds fantastic.
Most modern-day single-chip FM receivers that I came across sound terribly in comparison.

If you are trying to listen in an electrically noisy environment, there's probably no practical solution to improving the radio reception.
Since almost all these portables use the headphone cable for the antenna, have you tried different interconnects between your Zune and cMoy? The reception of my Cowon J3 's FM tuner depends on headphone model for example. Before buying something different you might want to try experimenting with an unshielded interconnect made from lightly twisted wire first.

actually using Fiio L2 interconnect, with Atrio M5 earphone, but also connect my desktop M40 Audio speakers with ''Monster TRS 400MKII'' to cMoy and ''Qed Performance J2J or Fiio L2'' to Zune(same results). Depending where in the building, I may have no FM reception at all, like if I was too far!

200$ earphones..??...
How long is the jack cable ??..
The phone cable must be at least 75cm long , wich it surely is
but a multiple of this number would be even better , let s say 1.5 metre....
It's not the cable; it's the building.
If you are near EMI-producing equipment, or in a part of the building where you are surrounded by grounded metal, you can forget AM-FM reception. Sorry.

Well , then he has to work hard so he will climb in his society s hierarchy
and will be given a desk in upper stores , it will surely help....😉

Close to...next earphone will probably be VSONIC GR07!

As for climbing in society, I will have to buy it😀
Try a portable radio built in the 70's. One with an actual dual-gang tuning capacitor. Digital tuning receivers are notorious for processing interference. E
ps: What's wrong with earphone? An audiophoole and his money....

I'll see for the portable radio" As per beeing an ''audiophoole'', please elaborate. For now, this Atrio 5 earphone is best I had and I've tried couples(value sound-money for what I can afford...and deal I had)!Try a portable radio built in the 70's.
