Ok - Dredging up an old thread here... As mentioned above, the easiest way (unrecessed mounting) is the best. While I agree with the statements in #2 and #3, I am a little puzzled by all the builds with recessed woofer (ie 10 inch+). Why do people keep doing this? Even most of the the flat packs out there are with recess.

Really? I don't often question your statements, but I'm curious. What problems would flush mounting a sub cause?
you dont often question my statements? you should! 😀

while flush mount has advantage, I cannot help but know how many people tweak their sub position for months until they feel they have found the best location for the sub.
op needs to be sure where to place his subwoofer for flattest in room response.

for best phase, you need to have your mains and your sub at the same distance from the listening position. sofit mounting may make this harder.

flush mounting the sub will increase the bass output. better have good acoustic to deal with that added bass. if op has no room treatment, I would not recommend flush mounting a subwoofer.

Hi,

Your clearly on the wrong track. This has nothing to do
with wall flush mounting, its the driver in the baffle.
