flared port dilemma

My friend has just purchased a Eton 8.1 Kit from Madisound. It includes the 8-800/37HEX woofer and the 25 Sd-1 Tweeter. There are box plans for the kit, and they show a 3" dia.x 5.25"long port.

However, we purchased a flared 3" port kit becasue we wanted the flared ends. Should we use the same legnth as what the origianl was designed for or not? I found an equation to calulate flared vents, but dont know if it would help me any.
