Not sure it's the right forum to ask this but is it possible to detect if a lossless FLAC audio file has been upsampled from a lower bit rate compressed format?
For anyone interested: Spek, a free program shows a spectrogram of any music file (mp3, FLAC).
Upsampling can be easily detected that way.

Not easy if the upsampler has added dither and even a little white noise to conceal their efforts
Dithering by itself does very little while upsampling.
I agree that dithering and adding white noise would be particularly vicious!
