Please check out these images of Lectron / Jean Maurer products, where the PCB and even the transformer are mounted inside, fixed to the relatively thin top plate but without holes comming through on the outside.
How is this done - does the technique have a name?
How much weight can be carried?
Thanx in advance

Check out the press-fit fasteners here: PEM Fasteners | Penn Engineering

yes those are likely press in metal studs
but easier for diy, there are permanent high bond engineering double sided tape options too

For home builders, countersunk flat-head machine screws will work. Then use auto body techniques - Bondo and epoxy primer and paint.
Or change the aesthetic/artistic/design standards! 🙂
It's a 'music machine' to me, so a few fasteners are expected to 'show'.
Could be spot welded studs - no holes, no re-finishing.
A sheet metal shop may be able to assist a home builder.
I did avoid visible screws on a front panel by laminating 2 metal panels with Araldite - screws were countersunk into one panel then covered by a second - the panel edge is a give-away though.
Tidy screwheads can give a professional (as opposed to consumer) look to equipment.
Alternatively go for the biggest screwheads you can find for a Steam Punk look!
