I used to fix loudspeaker on wooden/MDF box with self-threaded screws. Every time I remove the loudspeaker for adjustment, the screw takes away some wood. Eventually the screws do not get tight enough.
If I use a threaded metal ring at the back of the wood with threaded holes on the ring and the screw goes through the wood and tighten on the metal ring, would it affects the sound

Whenever this happened to me and I was too lazy to go the T-Nut route, I would line the holes with epoxy and let dry. Then simply rethread the screws. Worked like a charm.
