one need to take some time to read the PDF's on Antek's transformers. first of. the raited sec voltage is with 120/240V mains. (115/230 on most other) and at half load (fully loaded on most other).
so. for most of the world, that acctualy got 230V mains, your rail voltage will be 10% lower fully loaded with Antek transformers at same sec raiting.

I noticed that. Won't hurt to order them with slightly higher voltage than needed.

You're close to both Plitron and Sumr. If I were you, I'd be dealing with one of them. Richard Sumner seems nice to deal with.

I used one of his ( Sumr) 24 + 24 @ 1000 VA in my BA3 power amp, and it is quiet as the grave, even with 98-100+ dB speakers. That said, my F5 with dual Antek 300VA is also. Dead quiet. F6 and M2, with ear crammed into speaker cone, is just perceptible. Both of them use Antek's 18 + 18 500VA units.

Hmm My f6 with Antek is Dead! quiet with ear pressed close to my Tannoys' dust cap.
Irrespective of Volume pot position.
Again: I have to check to see IF I've powered up the F6.
Yup 'that' dead quiet.
I'm liking it 😀

It is just perceptible. I could probably turn the tranny and fix it, but for all intent and purpose, at even 1 foot dead silent. It has to be a quiet room, with my ear clear in the cone. Very little listening done this way. I still have to do the resistor-zener change, will mess with it then. With any thing less that 91 dB, silent. It takes Altec A7 to really even tell, with head up to the cone.

I've found that the shielded Antek are quieter than the non, mainly due to decreased mechanical noise.

I suspect they are wrapped better.

Were I to try something different, the Torody from Poland are by all accounts excellent and look absolutely beautiful. Are they worth 4x the price? No idea. I'll still get one some day.

Which series are you referring to?

There isn't much price difference between the standard and audio range toroidy trafos. The supremes are indeed much more expensive due to the metal encapsulation and hopefully better internal construction.

I would think these would be best if you need to mount them near sensitive circuits. For power amps where signal is already robust the audio range are already a very good option! I have one in my F4turbo and no noise whatsoever at 6A bias current.

Just received 2 18V and 2 22V donuts from Toroidy. Both 200VA Audio range. They are well made and the shipping via TNT was decent, considering they had to travel half the globe.

I think I have found my donut supplier.

My only critique would be that they should use differently coloured wires for the outputs so that you know the direction of the secondaries. Blue-Grey and Red-Yellow seems to be a well used scheme by most other manufacturers for the secondaries.
