Now the big deal is:
How do we get our hands on a few of those Semisouth JFET's ?

Exactly!

Followed closely by "How much better could a JX2 be?" And for me, that is followed immediately by "I wonder if that should really be XJ2 or J2X instead?"Now the big deal is:

Has anyone investigated what the minimum order would be?
Is it possible the fellow who did the LOVOLTECH group buy would be willing to do something like that again?
Not a bad idea!
I will get on to this tomorrow.
Grey is not an option, and it is also not reasonable to push this over on him again.

Count me in for the GB for some of these JFETs.

balanced J2 with LU1014D?
Will a J2 made with LU1014D have similiar performance?
Does LU1014D have any other disadvantage (higher distortion), other than having a low 24V voltage tolerance.
We can run the LU1014D at +/-12V.
Assuming the output goes to +/-10V, with balance amp we can get:
50W into 4ohm
25W into 8ohm
That should be more than sufficient for a non-mono-block class A for many of use.

Been there myself.
You run into the wattage limitation of the LU.

What if we place 3-6 device in parallel in place of each Si-C Jfet?
That should be able to reduce the heat from each device to below 10w

I tried that, but they are not sharing well. I have a test setup where this was supposed to bring some fun.
No fun so far, just blown devices.

You get in line behind me.
You get in line behind me.
Depends how much threats and crying you've displayed

I've been clear on this - the schematics of the J2 will be
released when production ceases. I'm tired of the
commercial clones using my trademarks, claiming to be
accurate reproductions.
In the meantime, you should have enough smarts to cobble
together your own versions based on the simplified
schematics. Much more fun that way.
