Hi,
I am going to put a USB interface in my amp.
Now i guess i need to buffer the DAC output.
I am doubting between AD1852/3
One has I out the other V out.
i want to buffer with tubes.
I have availeable:
6sn7
7193/e1148 (6j5)
ECC81 telefunken
ECC88 Siemens
5687 various brands
6ej7 (to mu-stage the above?)
EF22 (look cool!!)
I know the 6sn7 and the 7193/e1148 (6j5) in their audio qualities.
But do the other have potential too?
I like weird tubes, a m concidering pencil too...

The 5687 is a NICE tube. TungSol black plates enjoy a fine reputation. The 5687 is GOOD wired common cathode and superb as a cathode follower (HIGH gm).
EF22 is a remote cut-off pentode, so not suitable (unless you were building a dynamic compressor...)

No, you get a variable mu triode.
It may be suitable for a cathode follower in some circumstances, or a capacitance multiplier, or a very low input level amp with low gain (defined by feedback), but even then it will not be as good as a sharp cut-off pentode (triode strapped or not).
