Really fancy building the Pearl speakers as I don't like the look of the FH. Notice there are some criticism's here and suggestion that we should build something that is designed specifically for the speaker. Any suggestions on a similar design. First time builder but I'm pretty handy at building stuff.
Thanks do you have a link where I could find them? Don't mind a complicated build. But I do think 32mm 12 year seasoned white oak is a bit nuts. I was thinking of building them in 25mm MDF. they will only get played thru a £150 ebay Cyrus 5. I like the guy talking about his speakers but when he starts calling a £1000 pair of leads as "mid range" I think the world has gone just a bit nuts. I know some people have tried to clone them (and have plans) but it all seams a bit guess work and not science.
Just go to the main Mark Audio website, and click on the driver that you're interested in. Select Specs & Box Plans & then expand the Cabinet Plans to see the list. Thanks do you have a link where I could find them?

Brilliant thank you I'm new at this. Any you would recommend? Going to start just after turning my TD150 into a LP12 plinth
The Pensil is a pretty simple design. Why would pearl go to the trouble of making something more complicated if that was the best solution for that driver. I believe its a horn design of some sort. I don't like the FH stuff it looks like a novelty from the 60's. Want to build something more like the pearl. Its for a small standard British room about 15 x 20 foot with two sofa's bookcases and a fireplace. think the single driver route is the best to go. I have a pair of HB1's and some RAM monitors, but want something more modern and accurate, doesn't need to go loud, there not party speakers. will be driven by a Cyrus 5 not some exotic £5000 monster any suggestion's
Very interesting. I have a late 80's LP12 that I've modded a little, Jelco 370H tonearm, external Hercules PS etc.Going to start just after turning my TD150 into a LP12 plinth
But surprisingly good. The Pensil is a pretty simple design
You'd have to ask them. They also use a custom driver for that speaker, that isn't available to the public. Why would pearl go to the trouble of making something more complicated if that was the best solution for that driver.
IIRC it's a TQWT.I believe its a horn design of some sort.
Definitely doesn't sound like a novelty speaker.I don't like the FH stuff it looks like a novelty from the 60's
Copy the design from the Sibelius thread that's here on the forum if that's what you like.Want to build something more like the pearl.
