Hey guys. I'm looking into purchasing my first subwoofer for my system. I've been looking at the Dayton drivers mainly, but the subwoofer isn't my main concern.
My current receiver has no sub-out or any type of output for that matter. However, my receiver is not exactly my "pre-amp". I have my system hooked up to my computer as follows:
sound card output -> EQ input -> EQ output -> Receiver input
The signal is actually controlled by my computer, which gave me a bit of an idea that may be able to solve my problem.. In my soundcard output I have an RCA cable, 1-male-to-2-male so it can go into my EQ.
My idea was to buy another 1-male-to-2-male converter, and a 1-male-to-2-female converter. I would hook the 1-male-to-2-female into my soundcard, and then hook the 2 1-male-to-2-male cords into both my EQ and into my Sub, which would deliver signal to both. My only question is if this would work or not.
Any other suggestions would be most appreciated!

Could you explain what you mean by that? As far as I know, my soundcard only has 1 output. It does support 5.1 but I guess I don't understand what you are suggesting.

I just looked on my EQ and I noticed something that said "front jack" and it had a push-in piece of plastic that revealed 2 more input/output jacks!!
If I'm thinking right, I can just hook up my sub to that output of the EQ and my receiver to the other output and I should be okay, right? This is just a guess based on the fact that I could remove the RCA from the output in the back and hook it to the output in the front and still get sound.
Any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.. I wanna crack down on this ASAP!

what type of output from yr soundcard do you use? analog or digital? and what kind of sund processing do you do on your PC?

And the RCA output on your soundcard - is there only one or is it one pair? If it's just one, is it orange? 'Cause if so, that's a digital output.
I just tested the output.. I didn't have another receiver but here's what I did.
My soundcard has a frontpanel on it that has an Aux input on it. I simply left my current receiver setup connected and ran RCA cables from the secondary output on my EQ to the inputs on my soundcard. Then using a simple recording program, I monitored the data coming into the Auxillary input. Sure enough.. it was good stuff! hehe.. looks like I'm on my way to subville guys!
Now that I have that out of the way, does anyone know if the assemble yourself titan kits would be good starters?

I do ALL types of sound processing on my PC. I don't have a CD player or anything, and I am not a fan of the dinky PC speakers that the PC market has to offer right now.. so I hooked my receiver directly to my PC 🙂
Most PC's (I don't know anything about Macs) have 5.1 capability built into the sound card. Check in control panel for sound card settings. You should be able to configure in a variety of ways.
The ordinary way is to use the 3 connections as line in, mic in and audio out. But it should be possible to change that to front channel (x2), surround (x2) and sub/center output.
Then you just need the RCA adapters to couple the soundcard to the next stage - eq, amp, whatever.

Also, I found the absolute PERFECT PART for ANYONE who has the same problem as me! (although I don't have this problem anymore)
