if you don't have to spend money on "acoustic treatment" you have more money to spend on "speakers"and "rigging hardware...."

not to seem OT but can you measure the distance between the two speakers and ask if they have a room drawing with dimensions on hand?(and if possible some pic's to see what your up against)

Thank you turk 182 for your concern and care,

Unfortunately, this project needs to be measured in months not days! Right now, the worship leader and I have decided to bring in three contractors for quotes and see what they would do. I will see what the quotes entail but acoustic treatment would be preferred. I do not want to move ahead with any other aspect of this project. I have found a mix that the worship team likes - which is musician centric and not audience centric! This is the battle I am putting most of my energy into for the perennial problem of too loud monitors is more pressing.

how many mixes do you have available for monitors?
the more the better.
common mixes always turns into a volume war (as each performer wants more of themselves vs others) the ability to control levels and how they're distributed is a god send (no pun intended it is a miracle) hearing each other from localized sources really helps.(not to mention helping reduce overall stage level)
so first thing i'd look at on a system quote is just how many independent post EQ pre fader sends i can generate with whatever mixer is spec'ed to determine max number of monitor and FX mixes available. it will be interesting to see if any of the contractors use a "flying" rigging approach for the FOH speakers.

The board is a Allen and Heath GL2200. It has 4 Aux outputs which are used as monitors. There are two spare Aux's but I am hoping to put a compressor/limiter/reverb box for the bass guitar and probably the electric guitar.

The Stage is lets say very loud, the team wants to sound like Hillsong or similar.

tonitonitoni:
For 'high litergy' services this room is really well designed. This room has lots of reverb and reflections so that amplification of sound is not easy. Example is of which there is a spot just in front of the stage where the pastor can preach without the need of sound reinforcement.

turk182:
Unfortunately, only volume mixing no eq or fx. So it is very difficult. The only eq that is offered - if the board has not been tinkered with - is the aux is post board eq.

in a pinch i've used xlr y's to have the inputs go to two channels i Eq one for FOH i use the other channel and tailor the Eq for the monitors but mix Eq's are almost mandatory for me(but i'm spoiled)

so from what your describing the room is pretty live i guess treatment is in order...

any chance of getting more info as to equipment spec'd as in mixer, amps, system controllers/processors?
if the cost of an additional speaker as in proposal three is blowing the budget the shoe string's are real tight i guess...
any submissions with a central hanging cluster?
the sub is something that both proposal's don't really need perhaps you could eliminate it to get the rest of proposal 2?(maybe i don't have all the details right it would be better to see the full submissions)

Budget is under 4000$. The direction of the worship team is to have heavy bass (personally I think sub's are lame.) The quotes did not offer a somewhat full range solution and no hanging clusters.

The proposals contain use existing mic's, board (GL2200), reprogramming the Xilica XP-8080, and using the QSC amps (I am unsure of the model number of the QSC's but I was told from two of the contractors that they are mid range quality).

so have you been made privy to how this stuff is going to get mounted and just where?
well of course the contractor is going to say those QSC's are mid line they'd love to sell you new amps despite your miniscule budget...
why is the worship team convinced that bass heavy is the way to go. i thought that being able to audibly hear the mix without shredding the congregations collective ears was one of the original objectives was it not?
