First of all I'm not trying to be rude, half ***, or lazy. The fact of the matter is that this topic has been talked about many times in the forum. All of the answers you need are here, you simply have to search the forum and find out for your self. The reason it is so jumbled here is because newbies come and ask questions that have been covered here many times before, and in the process they fill up the forum with useless posts and what not. I'm NOT trying to put down newbies, in fact i wish more people would get into diy projectors! Just please do a search before you post a topic. 85% of the time your question is here in the archives 🙂. I myself cannot say i have not posted some dumb questions on the forum, but I can say i have always done my fair share of research on google and this forum first. I kind of wish i was a moderator so i could clean this forum up 😀 .

So, not to get of on the wrong foot, my appologies for comming off as an A$$ Hole.

....I wrote the trend because I have tryed
a provvisorial setup with cardboard

that someone have done something with my same setup that work so I want to know the why I can't get the same result

hey superpoz can you give a little more info on your setup? its hard to help if you dont tell what your working with

sorry
this is a provisional setup only to try some lamps

I have a 3m 6150 panel 10,4" 16,7 M color 640x480
100:1 contrast
2x pvc fresnel (I'm waiting for an 80mm Projection Lens Triplet
that I order to diylabs)
so one of the fresnel is under the panel and the other one
I use like a cheap big screen tv to proyect the image
I have make a box with cardboard of about 45 cm high (about 18") in this box I have put the Halogen reflector lamp with all the Die-cast aluminium housing 500W
the bulb is a philips plusline pro
9900 lm
2000h life
so the distance between the bulb and the fresnel under the lcd is
35 cm (14")
...the fresnel is attached to the lcd....
that's all
thanks

ahh... maybe are the fresnel but the result is not much different from a big screen single fresnel with a crt 17" monitor
only a little bit brither and less blurred but not on focus
I'll hope that with the triplet lens the result change a lot!!!!

thaks to all man I have try some set
but the quality is not increase
I wait the diylabs lenses and retry
I I have some problem then i'll post
a new trend
only one thing did you confirm that a standard 500W
halogens lamps is enougth???
Thanks to all
Matteo

Sorry about scolding you in my prior post 😀. Your a worthey member 🙂. Glad to see your making some progress with your setup. My quams about halogen is that the light is a little too low color wise, and there is alot of heat per watt. 9900 lumens for a bulb is probably why you are having brightness issues. Unless you have a really good reflector/light chamber setup like ace3000_1, your really only going to get (IMHO) around 1-3% of the light going through your panel and projected. Metal halide hqi is what about 25,000 lumens? Much brighter and much cooler per watt. Also, the color temp for metal halide bulbs is perfect as far as white light goes. I say take the plunge and do some research on all the different types of metal halid light avalible, you pick what best fits your project. It is possible to get a metal halide setup for about $100 if you shop (im talking about a mougle bulb and magnetic ballast).

hi superpoz if your using a fresnel as your main projection lens you can expect a big improvement when you use the triplet lens

would be nice to see some pictures of your setup if possible

for 18wheeler the lamp is the second one

for verbose mustafa : don't worry ,it's my fault.... in my first post
I haven't make myself clear🙂bawling: my poor english)
and thankz ...I really don't know : "your really only going to get (IMHO) around 1-3% of the light going through your panel and projected"...... before trying

for cruser: thanks a lot ... can you tell me the distance
from the wall to make a screen of about 150"
I thing to have anougth space and I have read
the triplet lens ratio is 1,2 so I have to sum
1,2time the distance between the panel from the
lens every time I want to double the image? is it right
ex:
distance lens -panel = 30 cm Approximatly
150"=380 cm
panel=10,4"=26cm
380/26=14,6time
14,6*(30*1,2)=525cm

is it correct what I have said???
Bye
Matteo

The problem with that rod-shaped bulb is that the light couldn't be collected efficiently toward projection panel and lens. A lot of light don't hit the panel at all. The rule of thumb is to find a 'point' light source. the smaller burning point the better. More light can be directed to the panel and the lens.
