First project: 7" Lilli , need some advice

First of all Hey toall and what a great forum you guyz have here, must say I am deeply impressed with the enthusiastim I have seen from everyone (This aint my mother tongue, so excuse the spelling mistakes and such🙂

So, got myself into this, but not without research mind you. I have been reading forums on the subject of DIY left and right for 2 months now and I think I gathered enough to get me going. I am interested in making a small projector with a small footprint that will display images from 3-4 meters away (that will be ~10-12 feet) and a screen size of 80-100 inches diagonaly.

Here is a list of what I have available to me as of now:

1 x OSRAM Powerstar HQI-TS 250W/D Daylight bulb
1 x Philips BHL 250 L202 Ballast
1 x Philips SI 51 Ignitor
1 x Plug(?) set for the bulb
1 x Lilliput 7" display w/800x480 res. (The one most people are using)
1 x Front Side mirror
1 x 160mm focal cold mirror reflector, 68 mm diameter
1 x 220mm focal condensor with 90mm diameter
1 x IR filter

Ok, now the questions for the experienced and the knowledgable:

Should I use a capacitor (The diagram on the ballast doesnt state one but the one on the ignitor has a "C" on one of the items, which might be a capacitor but no mf.) ?

I have the option of using a 160/305mm or 160/220mm fresnel, which one to choose?

I have the option of buying a 210mm triplet or a 275-320mm varifocal, which to choose? More importantly, I want a triplet for error correction, but do all varifocals use triple lenses?

Help would be mucho welcome🙂

Thx.

sorry to disappint you, the 7 lilliputs are really delicate to work with, if you are not carefull you can easily bust it especially because of small ribbon connectors.

i messed up 2 in my lifetime for car computer installation, so pulling lcd display apart for projection it's detroying the whole thing,

if you are into DIY i would recommend Xenarc screens, but they run between $350-$400 USD, for that money you can actually pick up nice infocus prjector unit on ebay

Yev

Hi !
you can not use a capacitor .

160/305mm fresnel, you need 275-320mm triplet, you can set your projector back of your sofa. the image is not too biger.

160/220mm fresnel, you need 210mm triplet.the image is too biger. you can set your projector on your tea table.

220mm focal condensor is not best, lost some light.
90-110mm is the best
