Hey!

I am new into Hifi, have good hand skills, and love tinkering and doing DIY.
I have just purchased an 8w p/c SET amplifier. and am now thinking of what speakers i should build.

I have a Budget of $500AUD (~380USD). this should include everything.
I would like to go with a single full range driver.

My music taste is very broad! i like alot of old synthesizer music, rock, classical, jazz ambient. so something that is broad spectrum would be great!

I like my bass (dont we all), if i can get something down to 50Hz from a single full range driver ide be very happy!

now ive been researching alot!
but there is just TOO much information to sort through with my limited knowledge of the intricacies of hifi audio.
The speakers can be large. preferably not fridges.
something with max dimensions "roughly"
1.5m high
0.5m wide/deep

I would prefer a simple - moderate complexity design, i will be getting the timber cut by a cabinet maker, and assembling myself.

in summary, something full range, gets respectable bass, and is versatile in music genres.
Im planning on building this ASAP (within the next two weeks depending if parts are available)
i hope im not asking to much!
thanks a bunch for your time,

im also in the Brisbane area of NSW and am eager to learn more about this wonderful world of audio if anyone likes spreading knowledge!

Sounds good. Fits into your budget. Available in Oz. Fits your size range. Has goodbass (better than 50 Hz).

Link in my previous post.

(i'm listening to a pair right now)

thanks!
can you shortcut me to the specifications if they have been recorded?
Ie
spl, freq range etc.

reading the first part of your link, i would purchase the design directly from you.
will these speakers suit a variety of room types?
i will likely be moving them around for a while until i settle (moving around for months at a time for work)

Hello, from a listener's/music lover's hearing perspective,my Mark Audio 10m's in pencil boxes simply rock...I am using it in a 15'x15' room and with about 300 hrs of burn in,they sound simply awesome.Very detailed articulate bass,a kind of 'contained' mid range(not very shouty I mean)beautiful sound stage, separation and detail.High's sound a tad bit harsh as it is burning in,still but constantly improving. In a FH design as far as I know the low's and mid's are bound to be even more articulate. This was my first FR experience and so far I am extremely happy.Trust this helps
