Hello you fine gentlemen. Been stalking the site for a while, now posting my very first DIY project.
Been doing it on basis of a old Technics SL1600. Kept the motor + platter and bearing, ditched the rest.
Its a "Sandwich" layer type TT, with bottom layer, made of 15mm solid Aluminium, middle layer from 55mm PEHD (High Density Poly Ethylene), top layer 1,5mm stainless steel. Made the powersupply outside the TT, and speed adjustment + 33/45 selector and On/Off where changed to better switches/potentiometers.
Recapped the motor control curcuit, and kept it inside the TT. FItted it with a sl1200 mk3d tonearm.
All is handmade, on a friends mill/lathe. Made a lotta mistakes during the process, but learned a ton of stuff :-] This DIY HiFi bug is catching on .
Just restored an ancient RIAA, from Dali, but thats another story.

Adaptor for Tonearm, due to stupid mistake (made the hole too big).
First quick assembly of the layers, still no powersupply nor tonearm.
Power supply manufatured (mdf + acrylic. Rewired everything) Tonearm installed - ready to go
All set up, tweaked and ajusted. And you can see the home made 876 gram record clamp allso :-]

Cool project, looks like a lot of learning took place, bet it sounds better than the stock unit did too.. 😀
