I’m looking to have a go at my first DIY speaker, having seen quite a few videos online I’d really like to have a go myself.
Where better to start than a sub?
I’m looking at either a 10” ported or 12” sealed, mostly to keep the size down. I’ll be using it mainly to watch tv and movies but it must be musical too. Obviously I want it to drop nice and low, 20-25hz, I assume I would need a powerful amp and dsp to get this from a sealed unit?
I would be aiming for a flat response, I know there is alot involved and would take some tuning but thats something I’m willing to have a go at.
Can you give any recommendations? I am leaning towards sealed at the moment.
Another thing… as daft as it may sound, I want it to produce good amounts of low frequency at low-ish volumes, will a sealed unit need to be ‘pumped up’ more than a low tuned ported unit?
Thanks
