I am currently trying to install my system in my new truck but am running into a brick wall when tryimg to find access through the firewall for my 4ga power wire. I have a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali 2500 Diesel, way different than my 1500 which was a piece of cake. Anyone know of a good spot to go through? Thanks.
Have they stopped including additional sealed tubes/boots around the steering column that you could cut the end off and run wire through?
Better don't cut the end off, but make a cross shaped cut. Even a very small leak from the engine bay to the cabin can give the most curious complications. Like smell, noise or problems with the climate control. Prevent any leak, a hole only a fraction of an inch can be too much.
A couple of wire-ties around the tube will seal it unless it's far larger than the wire. He'll have to find the best solution for whatever options are available in his vehicle.
There is a large grommet that the main harness goes through near the steering shaft but access and being able to slice and poke through carefully without hurting another harness seems impossible. Might have to take down the fender liner to get a more accessible angle. The 1500’s were easy peazy!
