This is a newbie seeking some advice regarding cosmetic finishes for the front of my surround loudspeaker project.
I have a 32mm MDF front baffle, with radiused edges, and want to finish them in black somehow. The boxes themselves will be veneered in a dark colour.
I've tried spray painting a couple of scrap prototype baffles using various types of aerosol can, with fairly average results.
Does anyone have any experience in this are that they could share? I'll post pictures as soon as I have anything respectable to show🙂

I have faced the same issue. I took a leap am tring vinyl. I will post some pics when I finnish. so far they look very nice. Im wondering what effect the vinyl will have on defraction. I am painting the back of the speakers black. Im using spray on enamel THICK coats to soke into the MDF then I'll sand and recoat. So far the look nice. If you can get the mdf serface smoothe and with no imperfections go with a primer and just paing with spray. MDF will soak up a lot of paint! So you will need to sand between coats.
well to get a smooth finsih you have to apply the sort of putty on the cabinet that is used by car repair shops. it is white grey putty and you ahve to sand it (or water cut it) to a smooth finish then spray paint it with wood paint.
