Full range - Hamlin's / Lafayette SK-98 pair -- $125

Hi Bill

I would like to have a go at building an 8" driver in an open baffle so I am interested in the Hamlin's / Lafayette SK-98 pair.

I am a new member of the Forum so I can't e-mail you through the Forum. Are these still for sale and what sort of condition if they are ... ?

Regards
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Sorry for the long delay before my reply. It's crunch time at work.

You may already have read about these drivers at JE Labs. They strongly recommends them in OBs, comparing them directly to some of the finest classic 8" widebands from Stephens and WE/Altec.

One driver has a small ding in one basket. The cones have no damage, and they play beautifully when last I heard them a couple years ago.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill

Sounds great, I want to build the baffles they show on the JE Labs site to start my time with OBs. Your speakers will set me off with a known good'un.

When you say one has a ding do you mean just paint removal or is the basket dented as well ? A photo would be great but I realise that is an ask. I am very interested provided postage to the UK is not silly with all the changes at your end ?

You can contact me direct on tox6280@aol.com if you wish.

Regards
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

It's a small cup-shaped bend toward the edge of the basket inboard of the flange. It doesn't affect the frame alignment, though.

These baskets are actually easy to bend--you have to be gentle with them.

Priority mail to the UK looks like about $40.
