Hi,
I'm playing with Limp to measure the impedance VS frequency of a coil with an Arta box, but is someone is aware of a shareware to find the inductance value of an unmarked coil, please ?

REW has an impedance measurement function which I have used - it is accurate and can measure over a wide range of inductances (I've confirmed from 10uH to over 100H). Maybe other software tools have a similar function.

many thanks, trobbins. I didn't know that and that's a good thing as I have to dive a little in REW after Xsim 🙂
While you measure impedance of any inductor, Limp is supposed to show the value of a reactive component, and that is its inductance. At least, I remember Limp doing that while I was trying out stuff years ago.
When i mesure a voice coil and i click on RLC he gives the inductance in the highs frequencies only but don t give me any inductance for the voice coil. I measured... a 4 h and just have a ohm value related to the frequency.
That region of higher frequencies is the region of inductive reactance and this is exactly what you are trying to find, a voice coil inductance at certain frequency.
You can calculate yourself inductance value as long as you have Z(ohms) and phase angle (degrees) defined.
Xl=Z*sin(phase angle); Xl=inductive reactance
Xl=2*pi*f*L; pi=3.14159; f=frequency in Hz; L=inductance in Henries

I can indicate that the REW plot of impedance amplitude and phase allows the calculated inductive component to be read from the plotted curve (by placing the mouse pointer at the point you are interested in), and so the value will change with frequency (eg. approach DCR at low frequency), and will change to a capacitive value past the first resonance. REW also separately displays the equivalent model parameters, if valid. Often for comparison a particular frequency is typically chosen for certain part parameters like choke inductance (eg. 100Hz), or output transformer leakage inductance (eg. 1kHz), so the measurement frequency should really be stated when an inductance value is stated.
Do you think one can use the Arta Box to plug the coil ?
I don't find in the menu jow to measure the coil.

Any system designed to measure impedance of a loudspeaker, can measure impedance of an inductor, capacitor, resistor or a passive network, etc. You seem to struggle with something that is supposed to work simple.
