NEC / Renesas UPC1237 are dead as a Dodo. Maybe Renesas parts are still circling around mostly on ebay, Ali and in some God forsaken shops around the globe.
Look for example this ebay seller. He sold 115 pieces. I don't see anyone complaining. UPC1237 on eBay

Thanks all for your replies. I've built up a cheap speaker protection kit as a testbed for ICs and have at least one batch of my previous purchases that seem to work OK 🙂

I have some NOS. How many do you need?I have some builds in progress that require UPC1237 speaker protection ICs, but how do I find genuine ones (ideally in EU)?
I have a couple of older amplifier boards that don't work and I am pretty sure the ICs I put in (from ebay/aliexpress) are the culprit. Since they are also a PITA to remove once soldered in place I would like to ensure I get genuine ICs, but I am not sure where to go as the "usual suspects" don't seem to carry these?
PM me.

Can u share pics please, just to see how the genuine ones looks likeI have some NOS

UPC1237 from Ali work fine, I've tried about 5 that came with kits, no issues.
That said, Rod Elliott's P33 is a very cool DC protection board and AC detector as it uses parts one may have lying around. Just the article itself is great education.
Speaker protection circuits are a funny things. You hope they never get activated and yet you have to trust they are working 100% all the time.
I use the P33 in my main amps. I trust in Rod almighty, all parts were from a proper distributor & it was rigorously tested and run in for hours before normal use.
