Ive got a sharp qa-1000, for 22$ US. It has that rare cable and power adapter, and also a carrying case, and was supposed to have a manual, but it didnt, gotta email the seller.

I expected the response time to be horrible, but it felt just like using any other lcd monitor. BUt the colors are HORRIBLE!. They look like something between 16 and 256 colors, is it really that low end? I though this was an ok starter panel..? Any help on improving this is appreciated

Now all I need is an overhead...

hello ancorp.

how did you find your qa-1000 overall ?

i'm bidding on of these, think it should go cheaply.
worth it even if it's a cheapy?

and also .... your into crt, how would you say it compares to what crt-tv are capable of.
(im not bothering with a higain screen)

cheers 😉

well lets see.

The panel has decent response time, dont notice any blurring on 30fps video or 60 fps visualazations on winamp.
The contrast is also decent.
The sharpness is decent too.
The colors are amazing - 64 of them! lol.... the colors are horrible man. But Ive talked to someone with a sharp qa 1000 panel that has no color problems, that is looks great. He said he had that bad color problem once while building his cables, but he fixed it somehow.

How it compares to a diy crt projector? (TV and Triplet, lol)
Well, the panel can be brighter (depends on light source) but the CRT will have better contrast (up to 5000:1 i think, with a good screen). And crt will have better response still. The panel will be sharper. The color on a tv can never be beat by a 64 color panel.

well,

in the last month, i have seen the 1600sw's go for: (all in AUD)
$229
$219
$209
$415
$311
$349
$486
$410

and the multilink .... saw one in need of repair go for about 170 usd.

i'm stickin to the rev9 card tho.

i never did get any answers about the LVDS capable nvidia cards... so.
😕

cruser is selling a kit inc. screen, ep1600 pci, for $500 USD.
so im trying ebay....

not too bad if you find one at the right price then. my plan is to get a better light and lenses, then sell my qa-1200 on ebay Aust, probably at a profit, so I can upgrade to something more serious.

you should think about that too. at the prices a working panel goes for in australia you cant really lose money, even bottom end ones go for over $100, Ive seen a z110 go for $290 and qa1150's go for $160 and $210.
