Hi everybody,
i don´t understand how you extend your short cables.
first of all, whats the difference between FFC and Ribbon?
what kind of cable is that used on IDE hard disk conections?
now, there are lots of cable sizes, pitchs, pin numbers.....
but there is something very important; cable type A, or D.
A=connectors on same side, D=conectors on opposite side.
i have been told, lumenlabs FFC are A type but they come with a ZIF conector that is used to clamp with the old FFC (face to face, it is very important)so you EXTEND it. That way the old D type + ZIF + new A type=longer Dtype.
do somebody know where to find D type FFC? (no need ZIF, just reemplace the old one by a large enough one).
thanks

From what I can gather the ribbon cables use the "traditional" copper type rounded wires where as the flat flex cable have flat metal strips
