Few cooked amps .. .

First things first, Hello. My name is Steve, I am new here, blah blah blah ... . Moving on . ..

I've got a few fried amplifiers that I wish to repair. I understand how sound systems work, proper installation, proper tuning, use of meters, etc ... What I don't understand, and would like to learn, is the internals of an amplifier. I'd like to know how they work, what components do what, the theories behind different designs, etc... Then, with my newly acquired knowledge, I would like to repair the 4 cooked amplifiers I have sitting at my house (no, I did not fry all of these amps; most were passed along to me). Any information would be greatly appreciated. (links to information, recommended reading, helpful pictures/diagrams, etc ... )

Thanks in advance!

take care & God bless,
Steve

Hi Steve and a warm welcome.
When I was young(er) I also had the urge to take things apart.
No one could stop me. Till today I still practice that strange behavior 😉

It took me lots of time and frustration to get my first amp repaired but man, what a joy when it worked.
A good advice here is practice and indeed learn at least the basic theory. Among this forum you will find tons of info and this might also be a good starting point: http://www.bcae1.com/
Others might come up with some good books for you.

Haha, yeah, I don't think I'll ever grow apart from this "strange behavior." Some people don't understand it, but I enjoy it. 😀

Thank you for that link. I have been reading through that site quite a bit, and it is very informative. It starts with the basics and expands far beyond. Definitely a good starting point. Thanks again.
