Eh, I dunno. Ferrofluid sounds pretty good compared to melting Mylar. It's just another case of don't use it if you don't need it.

I hate to rain on anybody's parade, but Troels Gravesen mentioned that ancient JBL cone tweeters (25?) worked better than anything else in a waveguide when he was experimenting with the TQWT.
But being a modern man, he needed something more currently available.
Not a whiff of ferrofluid, of course. 😀
Also, interestingly, the two most genuinely liked modern tweeters, the Vifa XT25 and SB Acoustics ring-radiators don't use the stuff either.
It's easy enough to add some attenuation to a tweeter filter to tame any Fs resonance issues. 😎
