Jordidc16,

Welcome to diyAudio and good to see you getting ready for your first build. 🙂

You can also look up designs for the CHR 70.3 from Planet10. He has the Classic Golden Ration (CGR) versions of his Mini Onken designs available for free for the DIY community.

Btw, do you already have the CHR 70.3 drivers? What sort of music do you want to enjoy with these speakers? What amplifier do you have?

Greets!

Unless for up close listening (< ~1 m, desktop, etc.), you'll need a lower Fs driver with either more efficiency and/or more power handling, much larger cab for actual bass (< ~60 Hz) even at low SPL due to its low Xmax.

Understand, no worries.

Hope you have an enjoyable project - both building the speakers and listening to them. 🙂

However, I am not sure if you will find nearfield (~1 meter distance) listening very pleasurable with a single driver full-range driver. They might sound a bit bright to you depending on your seating position.

If you don't mind me asking, which country are located in?

jordidc16,

Another Mark Audio driver you can consider is the Pluvia 7.2HD:

https://www.markaudio.com/online_shop/pluvia/pluvia-7-2-hd/

These are probably a more expensive vs the CHR 70.3, but will be probably closer in sound to Jeff's set which I suspect is a pair of Alpair 7.3?

The Pluvia is also easier to mount as it has a thinner frame. For the CHR 70.3 you will need to make a rebate (groove) as the driver frame is thicker.

+1 for the Plivia 7.2 HD. By all accounts a step up from the CHR's.

Alpair 7's are resting at the moment. Currently running Fostex FX120eN's in a Fonken derivative.

Hmm, I see the forum software now wants to rotate my pics. :scratch1:
