Hi...
I just ordered two Eminence Delta 12 LF and want to combine them with my FE207E.
The Deltas will work in a vented 100 - 110 l cabinet.
All the guys in germany who did the Deltas with 8" FR (usually FE206E), put the FRs into a closed cabinet.
That's a good option and will definately work, but I'm thinking about OB!
Did anyone ever try an FE207E in an OB?
Fostex says, that this driver has 95 db/W (m).
Would he have those 95 dB in OB down to 300 Hz?
This is my first own project and I'm kinda excited 😀
thnx
Martin

In theory, a driver's flat BW begins rolling off around (2*Fs/Qts) in 2pi space, or ~298 Hz for the FE207E, ergo OK to 300 Hz assuming the published specs are reasonably accurate and has a minimum baffle width around (4316.28/(298/2))*0.707 = ~20.48", but haven't compared it to any OB software yet, so Caveat Emptor.

Hi....should go down to 100 - 110 Hz (-3dB)

Sounds good enough to try it!
Just an idea....something like that...

I did a quick run in Xlbaffle. Still 95dB at 300Hz but rolling off under that. It agrees with your numbers, Greg.
Baffle 20.5"W x 47"H.
Looks like it has decent bass response on OB - so it should be easy to mate the the Deltas.

Cool, thanks for checking.

Second one ready....sounds good so far...they should be ready within the next couple of weeks (optimized crossover network, veneer ect.)
I don't really trust my own ears, but visitors told me, they do sound kinda "special" but very good...relaxed.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Interesting! Didn't realize the Fostex surrounds were so transparent. Makes me wonder just how well they load a small box. BTW, I haven't followed any of the OB threads, but if not mentioned, the air gap needs to be optimized before the XO.
What make/model are the electronics?
Anyway, looking good so far!

Hi larkinrulez, congrats on your build. So did you take the stated width and then "wrap" it around to the wings? Are the wings the same size left and right?
With the light shining behind the drivers, and the frame/basket showing through the surround, it looked to me as if the surround had been removed (!) The Delta boxes look cool

Hi,
To me, OB's sound best with no side wings. Try to remove them, you should get more "open" sound". Otherwise, looks very good !
P.s. I don't see any surrounds at 207's as well! 😛

Not my first choice of course, but as long as they're damped to quell internal reflections and not acoustically deep enough to create a TL anywhere near the baffle's pass-band I've never noticed any obvious difference.

Hi...I "damped" them with 4mm softboard (those you put under wood floors to damp the impact noise). But I'm open for other suggestions.
The "wings" are 8 inches deep on all four sides.
I use a Thorens TD-150 + Shure V15/III and a Marantz 2250B.
I also use a Telewatt VS-110 tube amp, but the Marantz looks better 😉

You mean the gap between the woofers and the obs?
Hmmm....I must confess, I like the looks and if they sound not quite as good as without this gap, I just don't give a....whatever...
😀
Oooops....the XO is for the Emmi 5,6 mH/22 uF and for the Fostex 44uF. Not measured and for shure not perfect...I had the parts ;-)

For most apps, my preference is 1" thick acoustic fiberglass insulation:
