After hearung this two fostex driver "fe127e" and "fe207e" in a "voigt", I been wondering how does "fe167e" will behave also in this enclosure or what should I expect. Is there anyone here built this already? 'Coz I have left 1pc of Fe167e driver to be used lately for my center channel but I changed my mind and I'll just need to add one 😀.:smash:

The traditional Voigt pipe rarely works out well. It's better to design a transmission line or quarter wave enclosure. Drivers with low Qts like the FE167E will perform better in a straight TL while drivers with somewhat higher Qts like the FE127E will work better in a tapered TL. There are other factors but that is usually a good indicator.

Hi,

I have built a pair of ML-TQWT as per Martin King's calculations using the Fostex FE167e.

To my ears they sound very good. I later added a FT17H horn tweeter ..with only marginal benefit.

You may need to play around with some sort of baffle-step compensation depending on your final cabinet design.

Cal 😉

If you're itching to build a tapered QWT this is a very good option. The drivers are very similar (the FE164E has been retired) and Martin's documentation of the project is very detailed including BSC.

I don't believe you'll get good results with the FE167E in a 60" pipe though. Shorten it to 50", mount the driver 20" from the top, keep other dims the same, be prepared to experiment with port length. If you mount the driver (trianglular side) as Martin did you may need an additional baffle (ala my FQ207 or Cain Abby) as the cabinet width may not accomodate it.

Thanks for all your reply. Timn8ster is my "suki" in every thread I post, in different forum, thanks man 😀. Anyway you were right, I'm itching to built another pair of fostex speaker. Btw I'm eyeing now with the Fe207e in a "voigt" if I could swap my 167e +1k 🙄 .I do have alot of confidence building this speaker and no doubt. Right now my Brines really giving his superb talent, I played (I'm just curious) this morning from "Eagles DVD concert "Hell freeze over" song title hotels california in stereo mode. I'm breathless my brines really did it, the "bass" so tight so smooth so loud but clean and with ease. I remember my Velodyne sub. I'm very happy though.😀.
