but I would like to avoid loudspeakers which horn is on the back because of the relation with the wall.

If it is a horn, and you put the mouth in the front it has to be 2x as big to go as low as the horn that uses the wall for reinforcement.

The RonHorn A126 is the best sounding box i've heard for the FE126 and the Fonkens for the FE127. Both reach into the 50 Hz range (as judged by ear) and definition is REALLY good.

Sure that using the wall reflection is a great advantage for taking a small enclosure !
In the next week we will buit a original Fostex for 126E consisting in BR + backhorn.
About the Fonken, I study for 167 also because of the lack of bass that most people speak about on threads... 🙂

We built the Fostex box. Surprisingly good, but bass doesn't go all that low and is kinda wooley. If anyone wants an unfinished plywood set of boxes...

The 167 will shift more air than a 127, but in a BR box won't go a lot lower.

I've built the Fe126e recommended hybrid enclosure. They do mids and highs well. Much better than my klipsh rf-3s. I've only listened to them in a 28x14x8H room. Bass is lacking there. Backed up against the wall, there's noticable improvement. Run with a small sub to about 100hz at moderate listening levels, I like them very much. This is an odd sized cabinet. Too short for floor standing, and may lose floor re-enforcement of bass when on stands. I haven't heard the BR, so I can't say if the added woodworking for the hybrid vs. the BR is worth it.
