If you want independent in the extreme try "Thundercrack!" two or three prints in film festivals only (there are hundreds of these). Thundercrack! - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia!
George Kuchar was a curious guy. He reminds me of R. Crumb (in some ways).
What's this crap about documentaries? I just follow the thread title. This movie is worth watching:

That's a good one Ron.
Check this one out! Its filmed in the first person. They should have done the sound in binaural. That would have been groundbreaking.

It doesn't fall into the category of documentaries, but I recently saw a film on Hulu called "The American Astronaut". I went into it not knowing what to expect and it was really quite enjoyable - moreso than any big budget blockbuster I have seen recently. Watch The American Astronaut online | Free | Hulu

A lesser film (not doco').
Early Ridley Scott: "Someone to Watch Over Me" with the first Mrs. Cruise looking stunning...two great versions of the Gershwin song, one by Sting and the other by Roberta Flack. It won't change you life but a nice, well crafted yarn. He's (Scott) very good with light. The shots in her apartment of wine glasses and mirrors are memorable as is the soundtrack which turned me on to opera in a way I was surprised about....

Tuvalu - The best movie you never saw. The director (Veit Helmer) is German, but the film has almost no dialogue, so anyone can enjoy it without subtitles. The DVD has a bonus film "Surprise!" which is just hilarious, also without dialogue.

I don't know how "lesser known" Extract is, but we finally got around to seeing it last night and we regret not doing it sooner.
That's a great movie. You should see "idiocracy" if you haven't already. Also directed by
mike judge.
