Anyone try the TexTreme tweeter yet?
Yes - I use them from 1600 Hz up. Very natural sounding. A lot of detail without being annoying.
The combination of the MW16TX-4 and TW29TXN-B-8 is very satisfying. Sometimes video soundtrack is so real that i have looked out the window to see whose dog was barking, only to realize the barking dog was an off-screen part of the movie I was watching. Spooky real.
That's interresting.
Had you the chance to listen to some good Dynaudio tweeter ot the good ones in the Morel range ? How would you compare the sound vs the new Textreme ?
Orange and apple, each having its charm ?
Questioning myself about that and tweeters choice !

Hifijim; OK, I was following your TexTreme but didn't read about the tweeter. Good to know! Some hard domes annoy me, some soft domes lack detail; maybe the TexTreme tweeter is a good happy thing between high resolution without any nasties! I really want to try some of the newer mixed alloy tweeters; said to have better control than say Ti alone.
Did anyone notice that the Textreme and much of the other SB line just had a considerable price increase? Madisound is where I noticed it happen in the last week. The MW19 Textreme was about $284 and is now $329.
That's a shame! COVID has caused many prices world wide to increase; or at least the OEMs and suppliers are using that as an excuse. I ordered my MW13TX 5 inch from Solen; they are on back order but I pre-paid in full to ensure I would get a pair. Maybe I got lucky and did that if they also do a price jump! I just ordered a new pair of sneakers for summer; even shoes have gone WAY up in price!
Are you paying customs fees when ordering from Solen? They're who I ordered my very first speakers from back in 89 or 90. Pretty sure I had customs dues.
There is a foreign exchange charge; that may include customs but doesn't specifically say that. So, all total about $650 US including shipping and all other charges for a pair of MW13TX.
Helicopter money + less goods and services produced = more money chasing the same stuff = prices go up, hello inflation 🙂
Interesting they get it upfront, possibly. Weird how these drivers just seem to be trickling in. Madisound has both versions of MW16 but only the 8ohm MW19, and so far no sign of the MW13. Sure are cool looking drivers. That counts in my book. Probably why I won't consider the Purifi. Beyond ugly. Some care, some don't.
They only have 4 pieces total coming in at first and told me I should go ahead and pay upfront or else someone else could possibly get them before me.
Well, yes since my stimulus was either going to pay down credit cards or buy new speakers; easy choice!
GREED, it's what makes the world go around I'm sad to say!

If you live in the USA and order from Solen; the tracking number from Canada Post also works for USPS which is handy! Once the order crosses the border, you can track it like any other US Mail.
Both the NE149 and NE180 are incredible drivers if you know how to cross them over. The close edge goes to the NE180 because of its better midbass. They both sound open and detailed while being warm and non fatiguing, plus they handle a good amount of power thanks to the large 38mm titanium former VC diameter. That's a pretty big VC for a 15cm driver. It can play pretty loud as a midrange too.
Tweeter wise I'm a big fan of the Audax Tw034X0. It handles a low xover point, plays very loud and the very top end response is very good for a large dome. The T35C002 Seas is also very good but expensive. This tweeter sounds very fast, accurate and can play very loud.

Here's a list of the drivers that are a "few of my favourite things". There have been many others but these stand out.
NE19VTS-04 a surprise as better than expected
SB26STCN-C000-4 very good value
SB26STAC-C000-4 great performer and value
SB26ADC-C000-4 love it and top value
D2608-913000 another great performer
SB65WBAC25-4 great for tiny computer speakers but limited power handling which for me is no issue nearfield
SB12PAC25-4 shows that a metal cone doesn't mean ripping your ears out, great mids
NE123W-08 fantastic mids and upper bass
SB13PFC25-08 better than it's budget price suggests
SB17NAC35-8 love it but low SPL which I don't find an issue
18W8531G00 great as long as you don't extend the bottom end too low
MW16P-8 a very smooth operator but preferred the NAC presentation
SB15SFCR39-8 a budget woofer which has a nice quality especially sealed
M22WR-09-08 obsolete but a great 8" woofer
830452 XLS fantastic subwoofer for medium rooms and very robust (16 years and still going strong)

Convinced beyond argument and I REALLY don't care if you think you are some kind of expert or guru! 1st order passive is the absolute very best way to do a X/O. You are TOTALLY missing the point if you think otherwise!
