Im about to be given a Denon compact amp, and told " Its a bit tempremental ".
It works fine now and then , but the fault is a crackling sound in both speakers and a reduction in volume !
Im thinking it may just be a faulty vol pot...but these units use a rotory encoder.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar fault with one or so.

Could be a bad soldered joint.
If you twist the chassis a little some times it will crackle if its a bad joint.
