I've been dreaming of building a pair of floor monitors for my guitar rig so I can get the best performance out of my amp modelling. Other guitar modeler users swear by coaxial designs (due to the point source being more familiar to guitar players) but I keep getting hung up on the expense of the better coaxes and added complexity of crossovers. Despite being 5 years on the market I've just discovered these full rangers from Fane. They look like a great fit given they are reasonably flat, powerful and very reasonably priced.
To the uninitiated, modelers digitally recreate the tone of a loud amp and speaker combination. The ideal system for using a modeler is as close to low distortion/wide band as possible. No "tone" comes from the sound reproduction system.
I want to keep the enclosures small but the bass response flat down into the range of a typical guitar rig. The datasheet recommends 30-75 liters. When simulated it looks like a 75 liter sealed box should give a -3db point of ~60hz which is regarded as acceptable low end for this application. Ported simulations provide more low end extension but seem to require very large boxes to stay flat.

Any one have experience with these drivers in sealed boxes or similar relevant inputs before I buy a pair?

I'd recommend having some EQ available in your amplification - the Fanes can be a bit hot in the upper midrange and treble, so being able to smooth that out is useful.

The low E is 82.41 Hz, so a closed box is fine.
I play a 7 so I have notes down to 62hz but most amps filter a lot of the lows anyway. You end up getting a hint of the fundamental and lots of harmonics. If extended low end is desirable in this situation it’s because cabinet impulse responses may have information below the normal range. It’s debatable. Suffice to say that commercial products for reproducing modeled tones brag about having a 70hz (-2.5db) cutoff so I think I’m in the right ball park.

I have the 15-300TC in about 80 liters sealed, pretty good to around 80hz before it starts rolling off.

Hmmm. I may just buy one of these kits. It’s a little on the small side but might work.
