i have two heatsinks from apexjr that i'd like to use on a big gainclone project. i want to use 2 fan cooled heatsinks, each sink is http://www.apexjr.com/images/APEXJRHEATSINK6IN.jpg Heat Sink size 6" X 8" X 1/2" great for use with the Alesis Modules $3.95

ok, but i also cant get a side to side mounitng due to space. they will be inside a computer case. in anycase, iwas thinking of some creative mounting, but am unsure how best to go about it. the heatsink will need to be isolated from the ICs (as there will be different Vee's). it will need to run basically 4 lm3875s and 1 lm4780 (or 2 lm3886) it will run a pair of 6.5" midwoofers, 1" tweeters, and a single 15" subwoofer.

i have a pic that shows what i want to do. any opinions?

I don't know if this will help but

Maybe a thinner type fan will help it all fit in there, something like this
FAN 12 VDC "SQUIRREL CAGE" BLOWER

As for orientation of the heat sinks, maybe having them so the air flows from front to back would help it all fit in there? And maybe bolt them face together at the flanges, not a lot of room for air, but with forced air it shouldn’t be a big problem.

Computer cases are generally designed with a front to back type of cooling arrangement in mind.

Sound level pressure: 57.4 dBA

wow, i think that's about as loud as my computer case...

ok, i think i'll probably have to go verticle to get all the ICs on the way i wanted to mount them on PCBs. i'm wondering if this will give me enough cooling for the amount of chips.
